Happy new year everyone and I'm sorry for not being active lately because I have a lot of family plans and it will continue through the month of January. But I decided to start 2026 by talking about 1 UI 8.5 beta 3 to show you all the hidden features that no one else talks about. So without further ado, let's jump in. [music] So let's start with the build number. As usual, here I'm using the S25 Ultra and the build number ends in double Z A3 and you can see the full build number over here. And now let's talk about all the new changes. Let us start with the lock screen which you got a lot of visual tweaks. The first one when you highlight the clock you will notice that the borders around it are now thinner than beta 1 which matches what we used to have in 1 UI 8. Not only this, but now I can make the clock bigger.
While in beta 1, the size was very limited. And that also matches what we used to have in 1 UI8. Not only this, but when you start resizing the clock, you notice here that the card at the bottom now disappears completely. In 1 UI 8, it used to be minimized, while in beta 1, it used to appear completely. Now with beta 3, it hides the card. And to view it again, you have to tap on the clock one more time. Moving to the widgets, you will see two new changes. The first one is the battery widgets now appear on top. Plus, when you scroll down a bit, you will see that Samsung news now has a lock screen widget.
And when you try to change the lock screen shortcuts, you will see a bigger floating card when compared to the previous version. And the last change I'm going to show you in the lock screen is related to the now bar media controls. You will notice here that the gaps between the buttons are now bigger and everything is shifted more towards the edges. same as the text which makes it slightly easier to deal with. So that's it with the lock screen. Now let's talk about the new changes in the systemwide search. The first change you'll notice here is the removal of the ellipses from the minimized search bar and it got replaced with the voice typing and now the ellipses appear at the top right corner. They give you the same exact options as before and when you start scrolling they become highlighted with this circular container.
But what's new here is when you tap on the search bar, when you tap on this ellipses, you will get brand new options. So when you go to settings, here you can control what exactly you want to show or hide from your search results. Here you have the suggested apps, search suggestions, settings, topics, app options in searches, downloads and screenshots, search history, web search suggestions, and the show hidden apps. And to me the most exciting one is the ability to show hidden apps. So for example when you go to your home screen settings like this and then go to hide apps on home and the apps screen and then hide any of the apps you have.
I will choose telegram as an example. As you see now it disappeared from my home screen. Previously to show the app one more time you need to repeat the whole process. But now when you have this toggle activated, you can simply search for the app to show again in the finder or the systemwide search, which will make it a lot easier for you. Back to the same settings page to show you the rest of the options.
Here we have something called customization service, which will allow you to choose if you want to include your data in the search results or not. And lastly, we have something called reset settings and delete search history. The second new option we have under the ellipses of the search bar is called choose apps to search in. And here you have the control to choose what apps to include in your search results.
And you have a toggle next to each app or you can turn off all of them at once. Last but not least, when I go to the search results, you will notice here that the trash can button that used to be in this area next to the recent searches got replaced with a text button called clear all. Now, let me show you some minor visual tweaks before jumping to the new changes under settings. And the first one is in the gallery app. When you apply some edits on your photo and then tap on the history button at the top right corner, you will see a more opaque card when compared to the previous version. And the last minor change is related to quick share. When you go to the send page, you will see that the select button has a slightly darker blue color.
Before jumping to the next chapter, let me show you the latest wallpaper packs added to the wallpapers by in-depth thick reviews app. I added a massive number of wallpapers and all of them look impressive on any smartphone and you will see them throughout the video and how amazing they look on my S25 Ultra. If you are interested in any of these wallpapers, you will find the app download link in the description. And now, let's get back to 1 UI 8.5 beta 3. Now, let's talk about all the new changes under settings. And the first one I noticed is when you go to the search, you will see that the items under the recently used settings have a different color. Plus, the items over here are slightly bigger than beta 1. And you can see a screenshot on the left showing you a sideby-side comparison. The second difference is when you open any of the pages, as you see, everything is automatically pushed down for better reachability.
While in beta 1 the pages used to open like this but now when you go in and out of any page it's always showing at the bottom to easily reach the options. The second change is under the sound and vibration. When you go to any of the options that have a slider at the bottom you will notice two new visual changes. The first one is the gradient background color plus the slider itself is shifted towards the bottom. So that's everything new under settings. Now let's talk about the bug fixes as shared by Samsung. The first fix we have is a fix for the clock display error on the lock screen. Resolved the issue related to favorites in the phone app. Fixed the issue where the now briefing does not display. Improved the screen lagging issue when using live effect in the gallery.
Improved the issue of high power consumption when a specific app is running. and finally enhanced the visibility of the search button on the widget addition screen. Now, let's end this video by talking about my experience with beta 3 while filming this video. To me, it's a day and night difference between beta 1 and beta 3. I no longer see the visual issues or glitches I used to experience with beta 1. Everything works perfectly and I didn't come across a single minor or major issue. So, I do recommend installing this build at least on the S25 Ultra, but I'm not sure about the other models. So, that's pretty much it for today. These are all the new changes I wanted to show you in 1 UI 8.5 beta 3.
Please let me know in the comments if I missed anything. But for now, thanks so much for watching and see you in the next.
