Hello everyone and welcome to the channel. Today Google released Android 16 QPR1 beta 3.1 which doesn't include any new features. However, it has a massive list of bug fixes. So in today's video I will talk about the bug fixes and also mention all the bugs that I'm still facing till now even after installing beta 3.1 on my 9 Pro XL which will help Google address these bugs when it's time for the stable release. So without further ado, let's jump in. Let's start with the update size and the build number. Here on the 9 Pro XL, the update size is 65.10 mgabytes and the build number is BP31.250610.009. And now let's talk about the bug fixes. As per the release notes, this update includes 23 bug fixes. And here is the full list. I'm going to leave the release notes link in the description if you want to check them yourself. But for the purpose of this video, I summarized and categorized all the fixes in multiple categories. And the first one we have is unexpected restarts. And here we have nine fixes.
The first one is a fix for a Wi-Fi issue that could cause device instability or reboots. A low power sensor component would crash due to excessive use of main memory. An issue that caused unexpected device restarts while using another user and another one while using Instagram. addressed a system hang or crash during unlock caused by the camera's ambient light sensor reading stuck. An issue that caused the device to unexpectedly crash and restart during an OTAA update. And another one after the system update, then we have a fix for device crashes caused by the context hub running out of memory. And finally, a system crash that could occur when using your devices media features, especially when connected to a computer for media transfer. The next category is the user interface issues and here we have 10 fixes. The first one is a brief screen flicker happened when launching apps from the notifications shade.
The home screen sometimes lost its bottom row of pinned apps and search bar making them inaccessible. Then we have a fix for the notifications would overlap in the shade hindering readability. The quick settings UI on unfolded foldable devices appeared clipped or misaligned due to incorrect padding. The status bar appearing in the quick settings shade was sometimes misaligned with the standard status bar. The media player on the lock screen would sometimes disappear or become unresponsive. An issue where the notification shade displayed a large growing gap of securing notifications. Then we have a fix for an issue where the media player notification could appear clipped or disappear during device rotation. An issue where black translucent bars appeared at the top and the bottom of the home screen after exiting full screen apps. And finally, widgets on the home screen sometimes failed to load due to looking for outdated apps files. Then we have four other fixes under multiple categories.
Starting with the typing issues, we have a fix for that typing occasionally stopped working in apps. A fix for the Bluetooth crashes and instability. Two fixes for calling issues. The first one, video calls initiated from voice calls no longer experience muted audio. And finally, an issue that caused phone disconnections or system crashes during calls. By this, I covered all the bug fixes officially shared by Google. But at the same time, I'm still facing other issues on QPR1 beta 3.1 on my 9 Pro XL that are worth mentioning to help Google address these issues in future software updates. And the first one is related to the clock widget editing page. As you see, it's stuck on dark theme even though my phone is on light theme. The second problem is the broken battery widget animation. When I tap on it, as you see, it doesn't animate. But when I swipe up to go home, it animates properly. When you compare this to other widgets, as you see, the animation works just fine. Only the battery widget has this problem. Also, the home controls animation has two UI issues.
When you trigger the feature from the quick settings like this, as you see, it flashes white, which might blind you if you are using the phone in a very dark room like this. And on the lock screen, it's even worse. When you unlock the phone using your face unlock like this and then trigger the home controls, as you see, it shows the quick settings first, then gives a white splash screen and then goes to the home controls, which is even more annoying. And here's another look at what's going on. The next issue is related to the settings app. And for some reason when you go to the security and the privacy page, it's no longer supporting the material 3 expressive we saw in beta 2.
But it's back again to the same design of the stable version of Android 16. By this I covered all the bugs I'm still experiencing with QPR1. Now let's talk about the performance and stability. From my experience while filming this video, I didn't have any performance issues. The phone is very snappy and loads apps as expected. But the only weird thing I spotted is in the Geekbench scores. As you see here, since I installed this build, I'm getting very low numbers. 2700 multi-core score, 3,400, 3500. While previously on the same phone, I was getting more than 4,400 in the multi-core. So, I'm not sure what's wrong with Geekbench on this device after installing QPR1 beta 3.1.
But the device to me works pretty much the same as before. No problems. So, that's pretty much it for today. These are all the new changes in QPR1 beta 3.1. Please let me know in the comments if I missed anything..
