Hello everyone and welcome to the channel. Yesterday, Apple released iOS 26 beta 6 and I have it here on my iPhone 16 Pro Max to show you all the new changes. Sorry for being late because I'm currently on a vacation, but I decided to make this video anyways. So, let's jump in and let me show you what's new. So, let's start with the update size and the build number. As usual here on my 16 Pro Max, it's 10.37 GB and the build number is 23A 5318C. And now let's take a look at the new features. The first change is the new initial wizard you get right after updating the phone to iOS 26 developer beta 6.
And as you see here, it will show you some of the top iOS 26 features before taking you to the home screen. And now let's talk about the new liquid glass end animation changes. And the most exciting change is the new open and the close animation. As you see here, it has this wrapping effect before showing the app on the screen. And the same applies to the first row of apps right after the dock. As you see here, it has the same effect, but it doesn't apply to the rest of the apps on the screen. So the lower the app position, the more wrapping you'll get. As you see here, those apps don't get the same effect as the apps in the dock or in the first row of apps. So there's a difference between the two, but overall the app opening and the closing animation is overall much faster than the previous betas of iOS 26 as well.
Also, the home screen edit overlay menu got a new animation. As you see here, it doesn't move to the right like before, but it only slides down. The battery widget also got updated, and now it looks like a frosted sheet of glass as shown now on the screen. And this is how it looks when you tilt the phone. Also, the lock screen clock looks more like glass now if you have it set to the glass option. And as you see, it has better light reflections than before. Also under settings, all the toggles got updated with a brand new animation that gives you the same effect you get when you switch between tabs. Now let's talk about the app specific changes. And I will start with Apple Maps. When you open any place like this one, for example, you will notice here that the pill at the bottom is now centered instead of showing on the left. And the directions button is now showing in the top row of buttons instead of showing at the bottom right corner. Also, when you jump to the ratings section, you will see here a brand new design with much smaller text.
Plus, it's now called ratings and guides. And from here, you can access both instead of only showing the ratings like before. And when you start the navigation, you will see two new visual changes. The first one is the liquid glass effect you get when you switch between the different options. Plus, when you tap on go, you will no longer see a separator between the share ATA button and the rest of the info, which looks a lot better.
So, that's it when it comes to Apple Maps. Now, let's talk about image playground. And the first thing I noticed is the more colorful icons at the bottom. Plus, when you start creating an aenuji, you will see this new animation with a connection between the bubble and the items. And once it's done, it will also show you a more prominent animation. You will see here small dots representing the selected options, but they are now blurred and the bubble in the center keeps animating in a more prominent way.
Moving to the phone app, I also spotted one small change. Now when you swipe on your recent contact like this and then tap on the reminder button. Now you'll see one more option called remind me tonight which didn't exist before. Also under the phone app settings some of the toggles got a name change like the detect call waiting is now called hold assist detection and under call filtering the move to unknown callers option is now called unknown callers. We also got seven new ringtones under sounds and haptics and then ringtone. When you expand reflection, you will see six new variants added to the list.
Plus, we have one more new ringtone called little bird. So, let me give you a quick preview. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I think this new Little Bird ring tone is really, really cool. And lastly, under the camera settings, Apple decided to remove the toggle that allows you to reverse the mode switching swipe direction that we got with iOS 18. And now when you open the camera app, when you switch between modes, it works exactly the same as iOS 18. So, these are all the new changes I spotted in this update. Now, let's talk about my experience with the performance and bugs while filming this video. The phone certainly feels a lot faster when compared to beta 5.
Thanks to the new apps opening and the closing animation. As you see here, it's very, very snappy and the animations are perfect every single time. So, I don't have any problems with the animations of the 16 Pro Max. But unfortunately, the phone is still getting warm even though I don't have a SIM card and my phone is connected to Wi-Fi and I didn't do any heavy tasks on the phone. I'm just navigating the apps and menus. So, still Apple didn't nail the performance and efficiency of iOS 26 yet, but it's certainly much better than beta 5. So, that's pretty much it for today. These are all the new changes I wanted to show you in iOS 26 developer beta 6.
And please let me know in the comments if I missed anything. But for now, thanks so much for watching and see you in the next.
