Gemini Live:

While Gemini Live gave me some good ideas, it couldn’t set a reminder for the event, which was a bit disappointing compared to other assistants like Google Assistant. So, I decided to try the same question on ChatGPT Plus.

ChatGPT Plus’s response:
“For a 12-year-old, there are plenty of fun ideas, especially considering he loves football, PlayStation, and puzzles. Here are a few ideas:

ChatGPT also asked for more details, which helped to personalize the suggestions further. It provided more ideas and, most importantly, was able to set a reminder for the birthday party, which Gemini Live could not do.

Next up, let’s test their ability to recall movie names.

I asked both about a Spanish movie where a husband accidentally kills his neighbor while trying to murder his wife after discovering her affair. Gemini Live asked me detailed questions to help identify the movie, while ChatGPT kept providing wrong guesses without asking for clarification.

After a long back-and-forth, Gemini Live correctly identified the movie as “Loving Adults”, while ChatGPT got stuck on incorrect answers. So, in this case, Gemini Live takes the point for its ability to ask clarifying questions.

Next, I tested which assistant performs better when pulling information from Google services.
I asked both for directions from Ajman to Dubai Mall using public transportation. Gemini Live suggested a bus route that didn’t exist in Google Maps, while ChatGPT gave me the correct route, including the bus and metro details. So, ChatGPT wins this round for providing accurate and detailed directions.

I also asked both to summarize a review of the Google Pixel 9 Pro from MKBHD’s YouTube channel. Both assistants did a decent job summarizing the performance and battery life, so I’ll call this one a tie.

Finally, I asked both about a technical issue I had with my desktop PC. When editing videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, my PC would restart and the fan noise would get louder. Gemini Live focused on thermal issues, but ChatGPT accurately identified that the problem could be related to my power supply unit (PSU), which was indeed the issue.

Conclusion:
Gemini Live provides the most natural conversational experience, with multiple voice options, but it struggles when pulling data from Google services or external sources. On the other hand, ChatGPT excels at providing detailed answers, integrating with services like Google Maps, and addressing more technical questions.

So, overall, ChatGPT Plus comes out on top in terms of intelligence and functionality, while Gemini Live offers a more human-like conversation experience.
