I've been using the pixel 9 Pro XL for the past 30 days as my daily driver in today's video I will share my experience with this phone after using it for a long time to tell you what are the things that went well and what are the things that could have been better I will start by showing you two hidden features that I spotted after using this phone for a very long time which I didn't mention in my full review the first one is related to phone calls when you make a call and activate the loudest speaker the sound comes out from the bottom and top firing speakers not only the one at the bottom and that makes your phone calls much louder I tried the same on all previous pixel models and none of them supports this feature the second one is related to the audio Magic Eraser previously it used to consolidate all human voices under one slider called Speech but on the pixel 9 Pro XL it can identify different speakers so you can adjust the volume of each one separately and in my opinion this feature will give you much more flexibility especially if you use your phone for Content creation before talking about my experience with the hardware of the 9 Pro XL let's start October with my latest wallpaper pack that includes these 12 stunning wallpapers and I'm using one of them right now on my 9 Pro XL and here is how it looks you will find Google Play Store download link in the description to check it yourself and now let's get back to the review and now my experience with the hardware the best thing about this phone is the sustained performance performance in my 16 Pro max review I took the 9 Pro XL the 15 Pro Max and the s24 ultra to do a morning camera comparison with the latest iPhone I used all of them for 1 hour and 18 minutes to take photos and videos bearing in mind that my SIM card was inside the pixel with all other phones running without any wireless connection surprisingly the 9 Pro XL kept the display bright enough to easily see what I'm doing while all other phones dimmed their displays to a point that I was struggling to see the new finder which aligns perfectly with the results of my heavy workload test the 9 Pro XL was able to finish the 30 minutes with the brightest display I remember those days when the 7 Pro used to overheat when I make a video call under direct sunlight but now I can shoot photos and videos in a 40° C weather and have the brightest display which is an impressive achievement from Google not to mention that the pixel has the highest peak brightness at least when compared to the 16 Pro Max and the s24 ultra from my experience it's notably brighter than the competition as shown in this side by-side comparison so overall if you want the best phone for outdoors usage either because of the brightness or thermal management I recommend the 9 Pro XL over the 16 Pro Max and the s24 ultra but there is something weird I experienced with the 9 Pro XL all of a sudden the phone gets a bit warm and slightly slower than normal as if it's doing something in the background this incident occurred twice in the past 30 days it lasted about 15 to 20 minutes each I assume that the phone is processing some data in the background and if my assumption is correct I recommend if Google would schedule these tasks to take place overnight when the phone is Idle but other than this I didn't have any performance issues with the 9 Pro XL so what about the battery if you normally unplug your phone at 7 or 8:00 a.m.
In the morning and plug it back into the charger at 12:00 a.m. you'll probably end the day with 20 to 30% battery in some days I push it to 3 or 4 a.m. and the battery goes down to 10% with the screen on time ranging between 6 to 7 hours I personally have zero complaints in this area but if you still need a better battery life in this case I would recommend something like the 16 Pro Max as I was able to keep it off the charger for 30 hours with 8 hours of screen on time and still have 20% battery left so it depends on your personal usage but for me the 9 Pro XL is still good enough now let's talk about the camera as I mentioned mentioned in my full review there are some long-term issues with pixel cameras that are yet to be fixed which I'm going to talk about later but after spending more time with this phone I can confidently say that the 9 Pro XL is unbeatable in certain areas number one is the front camera it takes amazing photos day and night it produces the best details colors and HDR even after comparing it with the 16 Pro Max it's still the best selfie camera I have ever tried plus it's very consistent number two is the HDR performance look at this shot only the 9 Pro XL tells you what's behind the window without sacrificing any details in the shadows number three it has the best balance between the details and noise so the images don't look oversharpened like Samsung phones or noisy like the iPhones number four you can take 50 megapix photos with all lenses from the ultra wide to the telephoto with the night mode unlike the 16 Pro Max that doesn't take high resolution photos with night mode nor the telephoto now number five the colors I see a big Improvement in this area it looks the most true to life when compared to the 8 Pro I no longer see this pink Hue especially in morning photos when compared to the competition the photos might look pink sometimes but it comes out with the closest colors to reality rather than something completely different so in these shots the buildings are not that yellow as shown in the Samsung and the iPhone photos number six is video boost yes it takes a long time to process which is about 2 hours once uploaded but I found myself using it more frequently to get the best quality possible and the results are impressive most of the time plus the addition of the 20x zoom makes it a lot more useful especially in concerts it gives you an impressive stabilization and the quality for such a high zoom level in contrast I didn't find myself using the 8K feature as the difference is not that big when compared to the 4K overall I enjoyed video boost on the 9 Pro XL but I hope to see it working locally to cut down the data you usage and the processing time number seven the stunning Panorama shots at night I personally don't take Panorama shots so I never used it but if you do it's definitely a great addition lastly the adme feature is fun to use it produces great results and I found it to be useful when the right moment comes not to mention the old feature we have for some time like long exposure action pan and best take that I found myself using till now so these are the things that makes the 9 Pro XL camera stand out it gives you a unique EXP experience and it's hard to find in any other phone moving to the issues I reported in my food review some of them got fixed over time the first one is the stutter while panning in videos gcam got a couple of updates since then and after trying it one more time in my 16 Pro Max's review the issue is now gone as shown in this example another one is the zoomed videos at night using video boost I used to get low quality videos as shown in this snippet from the original review and this is the result I'm getting now after trying the feature again at the time of filming this video lastly the ultra white photos at night used to look too bright and washed out when I first got the phone but now it produces much better colors and contrast than before other than this nothing changed still the 9 Pro XL struggles with the subject isolation in portraits no 5x portraits and it lacks a lot of features offered by the competition no 4K 120 slow motion Blow videos are limited to 1080p with no front camera support and active stabiliz Iz ation is also limited to 1080p overall I enjoyed the camera of the 9 Pro XL I can live with the 1080p slow motion and blur videos but the portraits are very important and I'm eagerly waiting to see it on par with the competition very soon so that's it when it comes to the camera now let's talk about the design I love how the 9 Pro XL looks and it grown on me over time when I hold it side by side with the 8 Pro I don't feel like I want to go back I prefer the new camera visor the corner curvage plus the even and the Slimmer bizel but now we have the 16 Pro Max with a lot Slimmer bizzles and we might see the same with the s25 ultra in Jan next year which makes the 9 Pro XL behind the competition in this area but for me it's not a big of a deal as the difference is not that massive when I put the case on in contrast my biggest issues with the design are the SIM tray and louds speaker placements they no longer allow me to rotate the phone anticlockwise without covering the speaker I got used to the change over time but I hope to see Google reverting back to the old placements in future models now let me share my experience with the software the pixel 9 and 9 Pro Models come with a lot of AI features some of them I used quite a lot While others I rarely used the top one on my list is reimagine I mainly use it to change the background of some photos like creating a better photo for my resume and sometimes I do the same for my friends autof frame is my second favorite in this example you see how we make amazingly it generated the missing part of my arm chair and curtains as if it's the original photo which is mindblowing number three is the pixel studio app I didn't expect to ever use it until I came across a situation where I wanted to imagine how my car looks in matte brown color I couldn't find similar images online so I gave it the prompt and it amazingly generated an image that did help me visualize how it looks so I'm planning to use it more in the future number four the screenshots app while I do like the search and organization features offered but I didn't find myself using it mainly because it's a separate app so I didn't bother to open it as Google photos already has an impressive search plus it automatically organizes my photos so I recommend Google to integrate its functionalities in the photos app which will make it more convenient lastly when it comes to the software stability and bugs it's rock solid no issues whatsoever unlike the 8 Pro that had some software issues when it first came out but the 9 Pro XL is great out of the box now let's talk about the basic things starting with the haptics it's great as always even when I compare it to the 16 Pro Max it feels about the same if not better in some areas I have zero network issues either on Wi-Fi or celor no micros scratches on the frame the camera or the back of the phone but the speakers could have been better the iPhone 16 Pro Max is leading this area and none of the current Android flagships is even close so that's everything I wanted to talk about about after using this phone for the past 30 days do I recommend the 9 Pro XL over the competition let's first agree that any Flagship will deliver great experience in everything but some are better than others in certain areas so if I'm going to compare it to its competitors from Samsung and Apple here is what I would say if you want the best phone for outdoors usage the best sustained performance best overall photos quality and AI features then the 9 Pro XL is the way to go if you are looking for the best battery life best video quality resale value speakers and a lot of buttons to press then the 16 Pro Max and finally the s24 ultra is the best for note taking multitasking display quality and the second best in AI features so it depends on your needs but I consider the 9 Pro XL to be the best Android phone in the market right now so please let me know in the comments what do you think but for now thanks so much for watching and see you in the next video
