I just published my Android 15 video and then I came across this article from Google talking about October pixel drop which includes even more features to talk about but there are two unusual things about this article number one it says October pixel drop instead of September as usual does that mean that the next feature drop will take place in January instead of December so let's wait and see if Google will update the feature drop schedule and the second thing is most of the features listed here I already talked about in my Google Apps updates series which I'm going to leave its playlist Link in the description in case you are not familiar with it but I will go through the features anyways to show you what's new the First new feature is the ability to talk to Gemini live using any of the pixel butts Google released starting from the original one all the way up to the pixelbuds Pro 2 including the a series and if you want to activate the feature all you need to do is to trigger Gemini and then say let's talk so let me show you how it works I found the feature to work while having the phone logged and then trigger Gemini either by using the magic word or by tapping and holding on your butd and then say let's talk so let's give it a try let's talk so as you see gini live is started and I got a notification at the top I can end the live chat immediately by tapping on this button and every time I stop talking to get the Gemini response I get a haptic feedback in between and I also get a haptic feedback when I end the live mode the second Gemini feature is the new extension with the pixel screenshots app which will allow you to find certain screenshots using your voice you can say something like find the brand of sneakers I saved in screenshots unfortunately this feature is not yet available but I will keep you posted in my future videos the second new change is under audio Magic Eraser now it can identify different speakers in the video and you can adjust the volume of each one accordingly you can mute it completely or make it as loud as possible this feature should be available on the pixel 8 models or newer but unfortunately I didn't get it on my 8 Pro just yet even though I have it on my pixel 9 Pro XL since day one so it might need some time to get it on your phone Google also added three new features to the camera the first one is the enhanced astrophotography mode when you go to night site and then tap on the slider here you will see three options Auto Max and Astro once you activate Astro it will show you the maximum duration to capture an astro photography shot and then it will automatically set a timer for 5 seconds to give you the chance to place your phone on a flat surface or mount it to a tripod and make it steady and once you hit the shutter key if your phone is not stable it will give you a hint at the top and and it will also show you this new animation while capturing the shot but something weird happened while trying this feature after activating the Astro mode and then switch to the front camera I still have the Astro mode activated and it takes Astro shots as expected it behaves the same exact way as if I'm using the back camera and I tried the feature in complete darkness and as you see it managed to take an astro photo without any problem but it seems to be a bug because when I turn off the Astro mode and then switch back to the front I don't see the Astro mode as one of the options over here beside this you should expect the new astro mode to be available on the pixel 6 models and newer the second new camera feature is the ability to take better photos underwater it says here you can now use any waterproof case to capture your favorite Under the Sea moments like snorkeling or swimming with improved underwater photography and video recording that makes colors look richer and more ACC accurate and when you tap on this tool tip it will show you the supported models which are the pixel 9 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL and as per the screenshot the phone will tell you if the underwater photography mode is turned on by the way I tried to trigger this feature by putting my phone in this waterproof case and then submerged the phone in a bowel full of water but this didn't trigger the feature and I couldn't find anything related under settings so I'm not sure if the condition is not enough or I I didn't get the feature yet the third and last camera feature in this update is the night site for Instagram so if I have the camera activated when I cover it you will see here this new night mode toggle that I can use to take better night photos and as per the article this feature is available for the pixel 6 and the newer models and we finally got the new thermometer app of the pixel 9 Pro to be on the 8 Pro Models as well which will use the camera to show you the things behind the phone and also where the sensor is located as if we care about this feature and use it every day moving to the weather app Google added a new feature called pollen tracker which will allow you to check the current pollen index levels types and forecasts before stepping out in case you have seasonal allergies and this feature is only available for UK Germany France and Italy and here's how the pulling tracker looks like in the screenshot provided by Google on top of this the new weather app of the pixel 9 models is now available for more devices that includes the pixel 6 and the newer in addition to the pixel tablet we also got improvements for call screen in the UK and Japan first it has a more human sounding voice and in the UK you will get better replies that will help you respond to things like appointment confirmations and reservations without having to answer the phone now let me show you a really cool feature in this update called Theft Protection that you can locate under settings this feature will automatically lock your phone's screen if it detected someone snatches the phone from your hand and then run away drive or bike here you will find the toggle to turn on the feature once you do this it will explain to you how it works it will use your device's motion sensors and Wi-Fi and smart connections to detect if someone takes your phone and runs away and it says here you must be actively using your device while it's unlocked and then you can tap on the turn on button the second toggle we have is called offline device lock when you turn on the switch it says here your devices screen will lock shortly after your device goes offline to help protect your data for example your device will lock if someone steals it and turns off the internet to prevent location tracking keep in mind you must be actively using your phone while it's unlocked the screen can be locked up to twice a day and you definitely need to turn this one on as well the Third option we have under this page is called remote lock this one will allow you to remotely lock the device by using the phone number attached to it without the need to sign in to your Google account or def find my device app which is very useful in situations if you don't have access to any other device or if you don't remember your Google account password all you need to do is to visit android.com for/ loock and then put the phone number of the device and then tap on lock device device it says here your device's remote lock setting must be on your device must be online if your device is offline its screen will lock automatically once it's online once your device's screen has been locked remotely it can be unlocked with your screen lock so I activated the remote lock on my pixel 9 Pro XL and I will use my 8 Pro to lock my phone remotely using my phone number so let's give it a try and as you see the phone got locked immediately and if I located the phone I can simply use the same uh unlocking method I already have to unlock it back again and use it normally and the last option which is called find and erase your device will simply take you to the find my device settings so there is nothing new here the pixel watch also got some new features but unfortunately I didn't get any of them on my pixel watch three but let's go through them really quick the first one is the individual contact tile which will allow you to message or call that person immediately from your wrist and this one will be available on all three generations of pixel watch the second one is the ability to send emoji email reactions on your watch you can now send and view select Emoji reactions to Gmail notifications and in the Gmail app directly from your pixel watch and it shows here some screenshots on how the feature works you can tap on send reaction and then it will show you multiple reactions to choose from and here is how it looks while sending and this one will be available for all smart watches running were West 3 and above and lastly the loss of pulse detection feature of the pixel watch 3 is now available in three more countries Belgium Italy and Spain the pixel tablet also got some new features with this update the first one is the seamless cast between your devices so for example if you are playing music on your pixel tablet when you make your phone closer it will automatically transfer whatever you are playing on the tablet to your phone it says here that this feature works with Spotify and YouTube music and it will be available in the coming weeks this feature will be supported on all pixel Pro Models that have the ultra wide band chip and starting from the pixel 6 Pro the second feature is syncing notifications between your pixel tablet and your phone so for example if both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network when you dismiss a notification on one device it will disappear from the other one the pixel tablet also got the home control panel screen saver same as the phone which will allow you to control your smart home devices while the tablet is idle and charging last but not least now you can share photos right from the digital photo frame and choose from stylish new clock designs that match your style and this is how the share sheet looks like so
